OpenLayers is a pure JavaScript library for
displaying map data in
most modern Web browsers, with no server-side
dependencies. It can
display map tiles and markers loaded from any
source. It implements a
(still-developing) JavaScript API for building
rich Web-based geographic
applications.

Changes:
Support for displaying vectors in a browser via
VML and SVG was added. The ability to add styling
and attributes was added. Support was added for
the data formats of GeoRSS, OGC GML (v2 only),
Google KML, OGC WFS, and OGC WKT (“well-known
text”). Numerous bugs were fixed.
