A recent survey conducted by RSA Security concludes that more than half of merchants did not fully implement the Payment Card Industry Data security Standard by the initial June 2006 deadline. The PCI standard — endorsed by credit card companies American Express, Diners Club, Discover Card, JCB International, MasterCard and Visa — requires all merchants and service providers around the world that store, process or transmit customer credit data to adopt security controls that ensure the integrity of customer information.
