Shares of TD Ameritrade Holding leaped in premarket trading Wednesday after two hedge funds that have built a stake in the discount brokerage began agitating for a deal with another brokerage. Late Tuesday, the Omaha, Neb.-based company filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission a letter it received from investment funds Jana Partners and S.A.C. Capital Advisors. The two funds said they owned 50 million shares of TD Ameritrade, representing an 8.4 percent stake.
